This photo and essay book was written by Moon Troupe Top Star Sena Jun and published during promotions for the 2008 show ME AND MY GIRL, where Top Musumeyaku Ayano Kanami retired. It’s very charming and occasionally emotional.
Some chapters are very short, or contain only pictures, and thus are combined.
The book also featured dual Japanese and English chapter titles, which were not always the same. Where these differ, both are included, with the translation of the Japanese title following in brackets. (For example, Chapter 8 is That time [The era of Asa and Osako])
019. An Interview [Interviews]
Interview work is always so hard.
I’ll slip away from what I want to say,
Or they’ll just print my answers without printing the questions,
So it looks like I was bringing up the topics of conversation myself.
The nuance ends up changing…
I’m always hoping that I’ll get things across well.
It’s really hard.

020. The Favorite Thing [Favorite Things Series]
My favorite music:
Southern All Stars
A boy I liked in high school sang Southern’s songs at karaoke.
It’s that simple of a reason.
My favorite food:
My mom’s home cooking
Kantou-style soba noodles with that daaaaaark broth.
Kansai-style is just missing something.
My favorite character:
Yatterman
He’s my hero.
The newly rebooted Yatterman…somehow I’m scared to watch it.
Do you get me?
My favorite TV show:
That’s a Secret!!
Everybody, do you know this show?
It’s the kind of show where, say, parents and children who have been separated for a long time will have an emotional reunion. I lived in a two-generation household when I was little, so I would always watch this show down below in my grandmother’s place. And I would always start imagining. “My current parents are fake and one day my real parents will come for me…”
(‘No, no, you’re definitely that father and mother’s daughter.’)
My favorite scent, time, scenery, season:
As I’ve started going on walks with Boo, I’ve started to feel the little transformations.
The sweet scent of spring, 6pm when it’s still bright on a long summer day, the scenery of the leaves gradually changing color…these are the different scents, times, sceneries that I’ve come to love in each different season.
I’m grateful to Boo for letting me make these new discoveries.
My favorite place in my house:
In front of my sofa
Even though I have a sofa, I sit on the floor in front of it.
I’m definitely Japanese~
My favorite words:
Indomitable spirit
(I borrowed this from Takanohana1)
