Sagiri Seina’s #1! (part 1)

In this Graph feature from 2016, the troupes were surveyed about their Top Stars with the results ranked. Sagiri’s was published in the June issue.

Due to the length, this feature is posted in 2 parts. The second can be found here.

Sagiri Seina’s #1!

We surveyed all the Snow Troupe members about what was Sagiri Seina’s ‘Number One’!! And now, what are the results? Have a look, along with Sagiri Seina’s comments!

[T/N: Sagiri’s commentary is in italics.]

What is your favorite role she has performed?

#1 – Lupin III (Lupin III: Chase the Queen’s Necklace!) – 17 votes

I like Lupin the best too!

“It’s because he’s fun, and mischievous, and cool, and like an anime character, all in one!” – Kanou Yuuri

“Lupin is really fun, and over all he has a very masculine heart, so he’s really wonderful.” – Suwa Saki

Whoa… You’re all so good at writing comments! [laughs] Knowing that you still think about it this way makes me so happy.

#2 – Vaslav Nijinsky (Nijinsky) – 10 votes

“Chigi-san [Sagiri] was just too perfect for Vaslav’s delicacy. And she and Kita-san [Oozuki] were so hot together.” – Chikaze Karen

“The secret night rehearsals left a deep impression on me [laughs].” – Touma Kazuki

Hahaha! [laughs] We were practicing the scene where I’m together with Kita-san night after night, and the underclassman would come to watch and get really excited [laughs]. I feel like Vaslav is a role I could only have done at that time, and I enjoyed performing that part. That’s thanks to all the performers who were so into it!

#3 – Sakamoto Ryouma (JIN) – 9 votes

#3 – Amano Haruaki/Kinosuke (One Night of Stars) – 9 votes

“It made me really happy since he was with a character with the same name as me, ‘Sen’.” – Agata Sen

Gosh! What an adorable comment, I suppose it’s because you’re a ken-2 [laughs].

#5 – Alain d’Orleans (The Count’s Daughter) – 5 votes

#5 – Mercutio (Romeo et Juliette) – 5 votes

“This is the role that completely changed my mental image of Chigi-san: her Mercutio caught hold of me so much that I couldn’t look away!” – Nozomi Fuuto

Oooooh! Since this was a revival after the Star Troupe performance, I wanted our troupe to shine and nothing to look ordinary, so I was really out for blood [laughs]. Perhaps that’s what caught Daimon’s [Nozomi] eye? [laughs] For me, I think Vaslav or Mercutio would be my second favorite role.

From Sakihi Miyu:

All of them! <3

No matter what part, her character development is right on, so it’s impressive to see her take on a new role. Among her parts, Sasuke from ‘Complete Devotion’, or Ogita Souji from ‘Man of Starlight’ and things like that…those reserved performances of shows in a Japanese setting! I really admire those.

This girl, she’ll always try to escape by saying ‘everything’ [laughs]! But, to bring up Sasuke, she really knows her stuff… [laughs]

What is her best revue scene?

#1 – Shining Rhythm, scenes 5-6 ‘Shining Cool Rhythm’ (Man on Street A) – 16 votes

“The bit of the choreography where she comes through the door in the set and does one kick is the best.” – Ayakaze Sakina

“The first kick did me in!” – Machi Yuuka

The choreographer, Bryant-san, was so cool! All of my practise was focused around ‘I want to kick like that!’, so I’m happy you all saw the results!

“Her costumes, choreography, rhythm, hand movements, everything was so cool that i was completely star-struck.” Hoshino Anri

Oh! I was coupled up with Anri-chan in the Chuunichi performance, although in the Grand Theatre I was with Ayucchi [Manaka Ayu]. Their methods of expression were different but they were both awesome. With 2 different partners I had twice the fun, so I loved this scene!

#2 – Congratulations Takarazuka!, scene 13 ‘T is Friendship – Affection’ (Sagiri) – 5 votes

“Even though I was playing a girl and dressed as a nun…I was able to high-five with Chigi-san [laughs].” – Kujou Asu

Ahahaha! I forgot you did that [laughs]. I was dedicated to having fun in this scene! Depending on the day, I would perform in idol style, enka style, comeback star style… Some of the audience might have been a little put off [laughs], but I started enjoying it more and more, so much that I think it’s thanks to this experience that I was able to pull off Lupin! But I’m surprised to see it so far up!

#2 – My Dream Takarazuka, scene 3 ‘Dreamer Stage’ (Dreamer Man A) – 5 votes

#2 – La Esmeralda, El Final C-E ‘Escalera Grande A-C’ (Señor S) – 5 votes

“Chigi-san’s glittering passion as she led the other otokoyaku was dazzling!” – Nozomi Fuuto

Daimon didn’t appear in the otokoyaku dance, so she must have been watching from the audience seats. All of us were trying to show off, including the junior actresses, and somehow I would get really excited to do it too, so we were all smiling through that scene [laughs].

#3 – La Esmeralda, Historia 9 ‘Siren’ (Gentleman Pirate S) – 4 votes

From Sakihi Miyu:

All of these, too!!! <3

Sagiri-san’s singing and dancing is so lively and I really love it! Sagiri-san is always passionate, but during the scenes of the finale with the grand staircase she seems to be even more energetic so I’m fascinated. Oh, maybe the finale scene from the recent Rurouni Kenshin!

Look, she did it again!! You don’t need to put a heart, just pick one!!! [laughs]
