Outfit Check!
We asked performers arriving at the theatre about their personal fashion.
Kurenai Yuzuru, Star Troupe
I picked the red shirt because it was showy but also active looking. I have a tendency to pick monotone clothes, but since my face is so cool (laughs), I feel like that gives me kind of a dark atmosphere. The pants are the ones I wore on stage for REON!! The shoes are sneakers that I bought after I fell in love at first sight, and I like that they don’t look overly boyish. They say ‘white’ shows everything about the person wearing it so I want to challenge myself with a white outfit sometime. I want to be an otokoyaku who looks good in white.
Miya Rurika, Moon Troupe
This summer I’ve been wanting to wear more white and bright refreshing colors, so today I picked white again. The cardigan has this diagonal belt type thing inside it, and the tshirt is long in back, going past my hips, so both of them have a fun design. I like clothes with this sort of simple yet playful energy in the design, so I hope I can skillfully incorporate this kind of style every summer.
Nozomi Fuuto, Snow Troupe
I put summery pants with a shirt from one of my favorite brands. Things with an accent in the design are cute, I like them. I wear a lot of large and loose mens’ shirts, and I often wear shoes without heels. When I was a junior actress I was always conscious of being an otokoyaku when I bought clothes, but now I’m a fully dyed otokoyaku (laughs), so I can pick clothes I like and wear them in an otokoyaku-ish way which means choosing clothes has gotten more fun for me.
Shimon Yuriya, Moon Troupe
Today I have this unique round bag with a big zipper as the central element I coordinated this outfit around, so I thought about the balance and went with simple pieces in black and silver. I’m drawn to things with a design that nobody else has, but that also are easy to use and not too attention-grabbing. Also, I like long jackets that feel a bit see-through, so I’m looking for outerwear like that for summer since the air conditioning will be on more.
Ayakaze Sakina, Snow Troupe
Today’s theme is ‘Less is More’! (laughs) I was trying for a style that would look chic without seeming like I was trying too hard. This year bandanas and scarves are in, and I like neck accessories so I tried this scarf. Usually I wear a lot of casual clothes, but I want to try wearing mens’ type suits in ways that stay informal, the way I see on models in other countries.
Yuzuka Rei, Flower Troupe
Today I felt like wearing cheerful colors, so I went for an outfit using white. The colors I choose based on each day’s mood can vary a lot, but in general I often go with monotone ensembles and subdued colors, and I like pieces with clean lines that are comfortable and easy to move in. It’s going to keep getting hotter from here, so I want to pick out some summery clothes in cheerful colors that I can use as accent pieces for colorful ensembles.
Seo Yuria, Star Troupe
Since it’s summer, I picked this jacket in a refreshing blue color. The chunky watch I went with today is one I wear when I’m thinking ‘I want to really get motivated!’ For shoes I also like chunky mannish styles. When I’m picking out clothes, I’m focusing on staying in tune with the popular fashions while not departing from otokoyaku style. I tend to put together monotone outfits since they’re easiest, but I want to start incorporating more bold colors.
Urara Reimi, Cosmos Troupe
The base color is a refreshing white, and I wanted to incorporate some bright colors too so I picked this sunflower patterned skirt. I like simple clothes, but recently I’ve been trying out more patterned pieces. Also, the length and silhouette of a skirt can really change how you look, so I’ll think about my height and consider the balance of the whole look. I want to wear more than just dresses, so I want to get more two piece sets and combine them in different ways to express my personality.
