Zukalations is back…

My apologies for the lengthy absense! Due to my schedule I had trouble finding enough time to translate and organize posts. I was doing twice-weekly posting for a bit before the unintentional hiatus but I am going to drop down to once a week for now. Hopefully I can ramp back up within a few months <3

The head translator has moved and will not own a scanner for the next several months, so images included in translations of more recent print material will be of lower quality. As always, please purchase the original magazines or books if you want to see all of the included images in full size and quality.

Upcoming book plans

The posting of ‘Aran’ will be completed at the end of May, and I will be taking June off of Friday book chapter posting (there may be some other features posted on Fridays during that time, but I am undecided).

I hope to begin posting ‘Berubara and I’, a book of compiled long-form interviews with OGs about the history of The Rose of Versailles, in July, but it is a very involved translation process requiring much outside research for context notes, so I may put it off further to give more time to complete it.

In that case, the book starting in July will be Sena Jun’s ‘Words for the Day’, which was published in 2008 during the leadup to ME AND MY GIRL and Ayano Kanami’s retirement.

Welcome to the new Zukalations!

Hello!

For a long time, we were continually having more trouble with tumblr’s formatting, and occasionally even having our posts not appear in the tags at all. By late 2020 we decided it was finally time to make the move to our own website.

The entire archive is being moved over from the tumblr to this site, with many improvements being made to the original translations (fixing typos and wording errors, improving phrasing and sentence flow, and reducing the amount of Japanese terminology). Currently all of the text features and most other content is already on the new site, with a few types of posts such as videos and show releases still in progress.

We are already preparing a large amount of new content for everyone to enjoy, so we hope you will continue following us at our new home!

Currently, the planned posting schedule is:

General content (magazine features, web news, etc.) on Monday.

Book chapters (if a book is ready for posting) on Friday.

Urgent or timely news, such as retirement press conferences and show opening/closing reports, as well as show releases, may be published outside of this posting schedule.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged us!
