A talk from Kageki <\/em>between the two former Star Troupe members, from the April 2017 issue. (At the time, Asaka Manato had not yet announced her retirement so Makaze Suzuho was not known to be the ascending Top Star for Cosmos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Sparkling TIME – Makaze Suzuho and Saotome Wakaba<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> It\u2019s been ages since the last time I had a photoshoot with you, Wakaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> That\u2019s right. Not since we were in Star Troupe together. It makes me nervous standing next to you for photos after 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Don\u2019t tease!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> It\u2019s true though!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Haha! You were nervous. But why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Listen~<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Look, you\u2019re getting like that again (laughs). Today\u2019s photoshoot had kind of a mature atmosphere, didn\u2019t it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> I failed at that so badly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> O~h?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> What? You really think it was good?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze: <\/strong>Yes! You\u2019re a senior actress by now, so of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Ah\u2026yes, that\u2019s true, I suppose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> No, no. (laughs) I just think you showed off your womanly charm really well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> And of course, Makaze-san was as cool as ever. (blush)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> What\u2019s with that! (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> How long has it been since you transferred to Moon Troupe?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> It\u2019s been three years now. What about you, Makaze-san?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Since coming to Cosmos Troupe\u2026is it two years? But you\u2019ve always come to see my shows, haven\u2019t you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> I do. I mean, I\u2019m your fan, so\u2026 (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> It does seem that way\u2026 (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> (laughs) When it was decided that I would be moving troupes, you wrote me a letter saying \u2018don\u2019t start pretending you don\u2019t know me just because you\u2019re in a different troupe\u2019 so I was like ‘oh, thank goodness, even once I move troupes it\u2019s okay to talk to Makaze-san.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> What\u2019s with that! (laughs) But I also go see your shows a lot. When we were in Star Troupe together, we really got paired up for shinkos a lot, and we spent a lot of private time together, so of course I would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> I don\u2019t know what would have become of me if you hadn\u2019t been there\u2026 That\u2019s how much you looked after me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> It\u2019s true. (laughs) But when did that start? It must have been\u00a0Lancelot<\/em>. It was my first lead and you were the heroine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> That was my first time doing a duet dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze: <\/strong>Me too. You were my first partner, Wakaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> No\u2026that\u2019s so\u2026 (blush)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> I made you happy (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> But I was so nervous and struggling so much that my dancing was really stiff so you said ‘the musumeyaku has to dance freely and relaxed or the otokoyaku won\u2019t look good\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> What, did I really say that? (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> That\u2019s the way a musumeyaku ought to be, I suppose you could say\u2026that\u2019s really stayed with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Ah, that takes me back. After that we had duet dances together in the shinjin kouen of\u00a0Dansa Serenata<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Etoile de Takarazuka<\/em>, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Yeah. Ah\u2026no, uh\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> You can\u2019t make conversation with just noises! (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Sorry. (laughs) I was just like ‘We\u2019re off on this tangent now?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze: <\/strong>Oh, that\u00a0Dansa Serenata<\/em>\u00a0stuff. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Back then I was also really happy to be paired with you, but I was so terrible\u2026I must have been such a bother to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Totally not! I wasn\u2019t ‘there\u2019 either. And Chie-san and Nene-san frm the main cast were so amazing that no matter how much we practiced we couldn\u2019t be at that level. It was a really hard show, but both of us learned a lot. Do you remember the letter you gave me then? You filled a postcard with tiny little letters\u2026and there were three of them in the envelope!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Ah~ You really helped me out so much! There\u2019s just too many memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> I was like ‘she really can\u2019t do anything\u2019 at first (laughs), but I was happy. It was fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Oh\u2026really?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Yes! (laughs) So, what was after that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Then there was\u00a0Jean-Louis Fargeon<\/em>. I played Antoinette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Oh, right. And I was Fersen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> The card you gave me then said ‘I\u2019ll always be watching over you\u2019. I was lucky enough to have so many roles where Makaze-san played my protector. But I wonder how you remember it. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> It\u2019s true! There was a big emphasis on that. I felt ‘I was born with the destiny of protecting Wakaba-san.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Even now, if I\u2019m worried about something, you pick up on it right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> It\u2019s because I\u2019m watching. I just know ‘today she\u2019s concerned about something\u2019 or whatever. I usually don\u2019t ask the specifics, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> I think it\u2019s very kind of you not to pry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Now, now\u2026 (laughs) Moving on, up to when were you in Star Troupe?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Until\u00a0Napoleon<\/em>. We played lovers in that, too. It was White Day1<\/sup> during that run – do you remember what you gave me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Ah\u2026not at all\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> It was a stuffed puppy toy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Oh! When I gave you that you were so surprised that you started crying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Well, you said ‘I thought you\u2019d like this so I bought it.\u2019 Just with those words, I felt ‘I\u2019m so glad I\u2019m alive!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> That\u2019s so over the top! (laughs) But I feel like it must have been fate that we were a couple at the very end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> That\u2019s probably part of why I started crying\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> And did you keep it after that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Yes. It protects me. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> I think it\u2019s more likely to just attract attention. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> I don’t mind. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> (laughs) And how is Moon Troupe nowadays?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Somehow I feel like I\u2019m not the same person as I was in Star Troupe. I feel like I\u2019m much more serious, but\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> What!? You!?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Am I not!? (pouts) No, wait, I\u2019m not asking you! Because I couldn\u2019t be serious in front of you\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> Nothing wrong with that! That\u2019s just what it\u2019s like when classmates are together, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> That\u2019s true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> So, you\u2019re breaking new ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> And what about you, Makaze-san?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze: <\/strong>Changing troupes\u2026of course when performing with new people the atmosphere will be different. But especially in the revue shows when we would be doing dance numbers and ensemble dances I\u2019d feel ‘oh, so this troupe has its own style too.\u2019 I don\u2019t think I\u2019m breaking new ground as such yet though. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> But after this\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> New ground\u2026but listen, I\u2019m not going to change!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(both burst out laughing)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> See, I feel like since I know the good points of both troupes, it\u2019s a good idea to incorporate all of that as I go on. And since I\u2019m a senior actress now, I feel like it\u2019s good to take these good things and pass them down to the junior kids in Cosmos Troupe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Definitely. I also hope to pass on everything I learned from senior actresses (starting with you) to the junior actresses in Moon Troupe. But honestly, Makaze-san, you\u2019re so good at looking after people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makaze:<\/strong> It\u2019s because I\u2019ve had so much experience. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saotome:<\/strong> Is that so\u2026 (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
