Amami Yuuki meets Oscar-winning actress she admires for the first time in L.A. – \u201cI\u2019m so inspired\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the 10th (the 11th in Japan Time), actress Amami Yuuki (50) participated in the Los Angeles world premiere of Thor: Ragnarok<\/em> (dir. Taika Waititi, opens Nov. 3d). In the Japanese dub, she provides the voice for the character played by Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett (48), the \u2018goddess of evil\u2019 Hela. Amami, a big fan of Cate, met her for the first time on the red carpet. \u201cI\u2019m really inspired,\u201d she said, bursting with happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She deeply respects Cate\u2019s talent, which has won her two Academy Awards, as a fellow actress. So much so that in January of this year, she flew to New York to see Cate\u2019s first time taking on the challenge of Broadway in The Present<\/em>. Cate wore a close-fitting gold dress, and as she approached the red carpet Amami said \u201cshe\u2019s here, she\u2019s here, she\u2019s in gold,\u201d with sparkling eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amami said in English \u201cI\u2019m actually your dub voice actress. I\u2019m so honored,\u201d and Cate replied excitedly \u201cOh my god! You are? I want to go to Japan right away and hear you!\u201d After the premiere, during a question session, she smiled and said \u201csince I\u2019ve worked for so long listening to her voice it\u2019s as if she\u2019s not a stranger at all. I\u2019m so moved that I was able to meet her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the effect of the shooting incident in Las Vegas on the 1st, there were metal detectors set up at the authorized participants\u2019 entrance. There was such strict security that someone working on the film said \u201cI don\u2019t remember there ever being this level of security before.\u201d Amami said \u201cthe people who were victims – I have no words,\u201d but also stated \u201cpart of our job is cheering up people who are down. When I see all the people who came here today, I\u2019m really glad we were able to hold this event.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
