This talk between classmates Masaki Ryuu and Sagiri Seina was published in the September 2009 issue of GRAPH. I was working from the version reprinted in Sagiri\u2019s memorial book so there is a possibility it may have been edited in some fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Dual Road – Masaki Ryuu vs. Sagiri Seina<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> Chigi (Sagiri), you were always really pretty even when you were still in the Music School. And also you spoke really strong Kyuushuu dialect (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> That\u2019s since I\u2019m from Nagasaki. When I was getting notifications by phone prior to the entrance ceremony, the girl who called me was really startled (laughs). Masao (Ryuu), even though you knew that, since you wanted to be an otokoyaku, if you made it in you would have to go to a short cut, you had flowing hair down to your shoulders, didn\u2019t you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> No, no. Just a sort of long short style. (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri: <\/em>That can\u2019t be called short (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> But it wasn\u2019t that long either. Everyone just talked it up so much that it changed in your minds (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> And then you came in late to the pre-entrance orientation with your hair flying behind you (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> That did happen (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> I have the impression that we were in classes together a lot after entering the Music School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> But really, in our situation, didn\u2019t we end up having more opportunities to talk after entering the Revue?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Yeah. In the TCA Specials and things we\u2019d end up together. And if we noticed each other in rehearsals we\u2019d always talk. \u2018Are you working hard? Are you good?\u2019 We\u2019d confirm that each of us was doing okay (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> Not only was that reassuring, but it also made us feel like we should keep working hard together. But even if we didn\u2019t ask anything, we could tell just by looking how the other was doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Right, right. Since we\u2019re classmates, we can sense anything like that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> When I was really stressed out during the rehearsals for Elisabeth<\/em>, Chigi would tell me just what I needed. And that kind of thing, offering just the right words for that moment, is ever so encouraging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Yeah. We do that mutually. In the rehearsal space, you\u2019ll often say things like \u2018This is no good,\u2019 don\u2019t you, Masao?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> Especially during Elisabeth<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Of course, with such a big role. Lucheni! I was really startled when that was announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> I was really startled too (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> That time, I finally was able to go see Elisabeth<\/em>, since I absolutely wanted to see Masao as Lucheni. I heard gossip that you were working really hard, but of course I wanted to see for myself, since seeing that would also give me a lot of strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em>\u00a0But weren\u2019t you having a hard time yourself? Since you were joining in the Snow Troupe production with the Tokyo run1<\/sup>. I was so worried that I thought maybe I should phone you on the day of the Snow Troupe opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri<\/em>: Really?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> But, when I was worrying about it that day, my classmates in Moon Troupe told me \u2018It\u2019ll be fine. If something did happen you would definitely have heard gossip about it. And since there\u2019s none of that she\u2019s certainly fine\u2019 (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Thank you (laughs). I got one of the Lucheni program stills from back then! (laughs). Even though we\u2019re classmates, since we\u2019re in different troupes it\u2019s hard to get each other\u2019s stills and things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> But I have a lot of Chigi\u2019s stills (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Why!?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu: <\/em>So I can study your makeup (laughs). Listen, you and Koma (Saou Kurama) have such pretty makeup. Didn\u2019t you know?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> No (laughs). But, Masao, aren\u2019t you someone who\u2019s really focused on your hair and makeup?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> Yeah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Like in The Two Noble Kinsmen, you even got extensions and things. Ever since you were in the Music school you\u2019ve always been one to try doing things yourself that other people might not do, I think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> I\u2019ve imitated your hairstyles too, Chigi (laughs). During A-REX<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:\u00a0<\/em>That was my hair from the\u00a0A Kiss to the Flames<\/em>\u00a0junior performance, right!? People were telling me \u2018Are you Janet Jackson!\u2019 because of that hair (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> At the hairstylist\u2019s, I saw the picture of Chigi they had up and said \u2018This is it\u2019 (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri: <\/em>I heard that from the stylist (laughs). Since [they] worked really carefully on it, I think they were happy to have someone say that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em>\u00a0Chigi has good acting sense, and your dance skills are so good, and there\u2019s nothing else I can say to describe you than that you\u2019re beautiful. I haven\u2019t been able to see many Cosmos Troupe shows, but for the junior performance of\u00a0Sketches from the Life of Sakamoto Ryoma<\/em>, I was just able to see the rehearsals. The role of Ryoma really suited you; it felt just like Chigi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> And if we\u2019re talking about you, Masao, of course it\u2019s YOUNG BLOODS!!<\/em>, right? I thought, \u2018I can\u2019t beat her sparkle\u2019. Masao is such a good rival, and such a good conversation partner, and such a reliable classmate, and I hope you\u2019ll stay in Takarazuka forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> (laughs) It\u2019s great to have a companion who can motivate you so close by, isn\u2019t it. I hope you\u2019ll stay in Takarazuka forever too, Chigi (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> (laughs). Since you play a lot of strong and bright characters, I\u2019d like to see you play a really naive character or one with some darkness inside next time. One of those roles where they have so much darkness its unattractive but even so that still makes them cool somehow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> I see. I\u2019d like to see Chigi perform in Nova Bossa Nova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri:<\/em> Huh!? Why this all of a sudden? (laughs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em> Since I already know you can be really cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sagiri: <\/em>This is the first time I\u2019ve heard you praise me so much, though (laughs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ryuu:<\/em>\u00a0Really?
